Photos for families who hate family photos

How we’ll work together:

  • We’ll start with the end product in mind. How do you want to enjoy these images? Are you interested in creating a record of family in the form of a custom book? Maybe you want a large format print to hang in your home? We’ll talk through your vision and how to make it happen.

  • The day of our shoot should feel equal parts relaxing and chaotic. I like to find your family’s rhythm and jump in. I am there to capture the artistry of everyday life — this means messy houses and fussy kids are not only allowed but expected. It all adds to the art we are making together!

Most importantly there is nothing for you to do other than be open to what comes. I like to wipe the slate clean before I enter a new home, leaving any scripts or formulas at the door.

  • Your images will be delivered to you via an online gallery in 4-6 weeks. During this time I am editing, culling, re-editing and developing film. Once I deliver the final gallery, you will have the option to set up a call with me to revisit your initial vision, discussing how I can support in getting images into the physical world.

FAQs

  • Yes! I shoot a mix of digital and film for every session, which is reflected in my pricing.

  • Life happens and I like to honor last minute snafus. I ask for a 24 hour notice when possible. We will work to reschedule your session at the earliest convenience.

  • I strongly encourage families to have the shoot at home, but I understand construction happens and other extenuating circumstances. As a backup I suggest other locations where the family is comfortable (grandparents house, favorite park).

  • Yes! My current pricing includes 2 hours of travel time. I charge an additional $110 for travel time outside this window.

  • Not at the moment! The images I like to make require time and mutual trust. It’s challenging to establish rapport and find a rhythm with clients in short sessions.

  • When I show up to shoot I never want my objective to be getting one photo with everyone smiling and looking at the camera. It clouds creativity and holds us back from creating something real. That said, I’m happy to carve out a few minutes at the beginning or end of our session for a few staged photos.
